Giulio Paolini (Genova, 1940) is an Italian artist associated with both the Arte Povera movement and Conceptual Art. He investigates the role of the artist and his complicity with the viewer, the role of space in painting, the temporal element into his work, the theme of double and the copy. From 1967 to 1972, Germano Celant invited him to participate in the Art Povera exhibitions, even though Paolinifs reflections on art history were not quite in line with the avant-garde and iconoclast positions of his colleagues. By using a wide repertoire of techniques to build a far-reaching meditation on art and its atemporal temporality.
